Lodging in a Nutshell

by Karen Solomon, Contributing Writer

San Francisco article by Less official than New York's borough delineations, San Francisco is composed of a patchwork of neighborhoods, each with its own unique flavor, feel, shops and vibe.

San Franciscans are opposed to the widespread appearance of chain stores or large mall complexes (save for the ultra-tourist suction cup of Union Square), thus every neighborhood is a unique composition of its own green grocers, independently owned hardware stores, cafes and restaurants and local businesses.

Though summer is the high point of the tourist season, San Francisco sees a steady flow of visitors that come for business and varying flavors of pleasure year round.

All visitors, from the conference attendee, the family vacationer, or the swinging single, should maximize the enjoyment of their stay by matching their attitude to the hotel, B&B, or hostel they choose to call their temporary SF home.

This lodging guide will suggest just a few of the places San Francisco has to offer based on who you are, your interests, and your budget.
