Lodging in a Nutshell |

Silicon Valley invariably conjures up images of technology and business but rarely images of a vacation paradise.
Certainly the area has become a Mecca for the computer industry and its reputation for business precedes it. As such Silicon Valley attracts business travelers galore. Only recently though has it become a vacation choice for leisure travelers. Surprisingly the area offers much for the visitor to enjoy.
There is often a little confusion about what area exactly makes up Silicon Valley. In total the region takes in about 14 or 15 different communities, extending from about 50 miles south of San Francisco down to Gilroy. Towns and cities incorporated into the valley include Palo Alto, Campbell, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Mountain View, Santa Clara, Saratoga, Sunnyvale and of course San Jose, the capital of Silicon Valley.
Silicon Valley can give the traveler almost anything he or she wants from interesting houses to visit, like Filoli House to beautiful public parks, like Alamaden Park in San Jose. Museum lovers are well catered for with such choices as the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose.
Wine connoisseurs can visit many different wineries like the very popular Mountain Winery in Saratoga, and families will love the amusement parks like Paramount's Great America in Santa Clara.
Overall the valley offers a lot more than computers and cubicles - a fact that travelers are only just beginning to learn.
